Kadaknath poultry scam: One more case registered in Satara district
Kolhapur: In Satara, another case has been registered with the Patan police against the people involved in the Kadaknath poultry scam.
According to the police, following complaints from farmers, a case has been registered against the three directors of the company for allegedly cheating them of Rs 1.48 crore. They have been booked under sections 406, 409 and 420 of the Indian Penal Code and section 3 of the Maharashtra Protection of Interest of Depositors.
“As per the complaints, the company officials had approached them and offered them a profit up to Rs 3 lakh if they bought Kadaknath breed of poultry from them at Rs 75,000.
Some of the farmers set up poultries and invested in the company by purchasing the Kadaknath breed. As per the agreement, the company had promised to purchase the eggs and the grown Kadaknath breed of chicken from the farmers. However, the company officials did not respond to the farmers and the they had to bear loss esas they could not get market for their product. We have registered a case against the trio,” said a officer with the Patan police station.
According to a police officer, similar cases have been registered against the directors of the company in Islampur police station in Sangli district and Shahupuri police station in Kolhapur district.
Islampur police have arrested two suspects in connection with the case and they are in police custody. The Kolhapur police have said that they will take custody of the duo after the police custody at Islampur police station expires.
