- HEALTHIER FEATHERS. Give your chickens the gift of healthier feathers with our protein packed chicken feed. With extra protein, Grubblies are natural grubs to help your molting chickens get the extra nutrients they need to regain their energy and resume egg laying.
- STRONGER AND HEALTHIER EGGSHELLS. With 50x more calcium than mealworms for chickens, Grubblies' chicken treats promote stronger eggshells and help prevent eggbinding and egg deformation. Unlike mealworms, Grubblies black soldier fly larvae provide the optimal calcium for chickens so your chicks will absorb the full nutrients without needing extra calcium supplements like oyster shells. Get more cluck for your buck than mealworms when you feed Grubblies!
- SNACK FOR CHICKENS. Grubblies are oven-dried black soldier fly larvae, packed with protein, calcium, phosphorus, fiber, lysine, and dietary fat. Grubs are not only a deliciously healthy chicken snack but also a nutrient-rich food for bearded dragons, lizards, reptiles & amphibians, hamsters, fish, and turtles. Also great for laying hens, roosters, ducks, turkeys, quails, geese, and other fowl. Songbirds love Grubblies too!
- EASIER ROUND UP. Chickens LOVE Grubblies - they actually prefer black soldier fly grubs over mealworms. With Grubblies, it’s easy to train your birds to come running and get them safely back to the coop. Shake the bag to round up your chickens, and scatter the grubs on the ground to encourage natural feeding behavior. They'll receive a wider variety of all-natural nutrients as they scratch at grasses, leaves and other insects.
- GROWN WITH LOVE. Grubblies World Harvest all-natural grubs are sustainably grown on farms around the world. No additives. No preservatives. No sprays. 100% natural, non gmo grubs harvested on a diet of fruits, veggies and grains. Healthy for chickens and sustainable for the planet. 1 pound of grubs harvested = 10 pounds of food waste saved from landfills and recycled.

Are Grubblies just for chickens?
Grubblies are a natural food for all of earth's feathered friends—that includes ducks, roosters, geese and wild birds!
Why are grubs better than mealworms?
Grubs have 50X more calcium than mealworms. Also, mealworms grown for chickens often come from countries with more lax regulations, such as China. We carefully source our grubs from farms that use the strictest EU standards.
Why are foods made from grubs better for the planet?
Unlike traditional sources of protein, grubs are sustainably grown on recycled fruits, veggies and grains that would normally go to waste.

The first time I fed the chickens the Grubblies, they pecked a little at them but mostly ignored them. I guess they'd never had these treats before. But by the next day, the Grubblies were gone. I hoped that the chickens ate them instead of some other creature.
However, after that first time, the girls have developed a good taste for these treats. They come running now and gobble them up in minutes!
I'm not sure yet whether they will help with egg shell strength yet but I'm happy with these so far because they make my chickens happy!
PS your ladies will thank you. I have some that are 8 years old still laying.
Once the snow settled in there were no more walkabouts and, not surprisingly, no more bugs! While their feed is perfectly balanced, we figured it would be awfully boring to just eat the same feed for four months. We thought about mealworms to combat the winter doldrums, but then learned about Grubblies. What a great idea! So we ordered some...
The girls seemed dubious at first. "Dehydrated bugs? What are you getting at?" They muttered as they munched thoughtfully in fits and starts on that first treat session. The following day's treat session we were expecting the same response. So imagine our surprise when our sweet girls almost attacked us to get at the Grubblies! We had never seen them devour something so voraciously before! Treat time is never a dull moment, and even more so when it's Grubblies!
They are quite expensive. But you pay for quality and Grubblies are a thoroughly well-thought-out idea. Perhaps we'll consider raising our own next winter? But we should be back to "wild" bugs here in a couple months. I hope the last pound we have holds out until then! Thanks, Grubbly Farms!
So, from this initial experiment, our wild birds choose meal worms over Grubblies. However, that does not mean the Grubblies are not better or that they will not get eaten by wild birds, just that they are not (yet) preferred to the dried meal worms.
Our plan now is to mix the Grubblies and meal worms together in the feeder. If this is successful (i.e. if the Grubblies aren't left behind as the meal worms are consumed), then we may be able to conclude that it's an acquired taste. Will report back later on this experiment.
For your information, our primary backyard meal worm eaters are eastern blue birds, northern mockingbirds, carolina wrens, and the odd northern cardinal. We hope the Grubblies will be a success not only because of the US source, but also for the extra calcium and nutrients they provide as we go into mating season.
The four star rating has nothing to do with my experiments and may be unfair. I'm taking off one star only for the cost difference compared to the meal worms. I have no problems with the Grubblies themselves and as they are not intended for wild birds primarily, I can't fault them for not being preferred so far by our wild birds.
